Personal Profile:
What I do now!
I am currently studying full time doing my BEngTech degree at CPIT.
I have worked in the electronics industry for a couple of years designing test jigs
and writing automation software for electronics testing in production processes.
I have also worked with customers on design development and full technical
support, both from New Zealand and overseas. I have good industry experience in
production management, documentation and employee training.
In recent times I have studied Java programming and Apache web server
administration to add to my experience with Visual Basic programming.
Network administration is another area of experience for small business systems
and I have my Cisco CCNA qualification in this area.
I have worked on contract developing office application software, business
network deployment, and technical support for both electronics and computer
systems. This site is part of my growing experience in these areas, hosting this site
from my own home network on a dedicated server.
What I did before!
Prior to this I worked as a Cabinetmaker and Wood carver in the Furniture
manufacturing industry for 12-14 years making reproductions of antique and period
furniture. During that time I also spent a few years in different departments doing
furniture polishing, upholstery and machining.
I spent some time running my own business doing work from yacht fitting
to kitchen design, joinery, wood carving, one-off furniture production and project
management. After years of working in the trade I decided that computers and
electronics would be a great option for retraining after repairing a computer
I was given in payment for a bad debt. This brings to where I am today.
